New Orleans Mayor Recruited Ken Burns To Try To Build Opposition To Confederate Monuments

Newly publicized email messages show that the New Orleans mayor's office contacted documentary maker Ken Burns, best known for The Civil War, to enlist his public support for removing statues of Confederates shortly before a city council vote in December 2015. The city council voted 6-1 to remove them, and the monuments were removed.
