New Hampshire Now Allowing Third Gender Option on Driver’s Licenses

New Hampshire residents have a new gender option on their driver's licenses and other state issued IDs.

As of Thursday, January 2, New Hampshire offers an X in addition to the traditional M and F for male and female on their licenses. The X indicates someone who claims a non-binary gender identity other than male or female.

The Massachusetts Senate has approved a bill that would create a Gender X option in addition to male and female on state driver's licenses.

The vote was 39-1, with state Senator Donald Humason (R-Westfield) opposed. The other five Republicans in the state Senate voted for the bill, along with all 34 Democrats.
