New Hampshire Bill Would Lower Drinking Age To 20 in Some Situations
Twenty-year-olds could drink alcohol legally in private settings in New Hampshire but not purchase it until they turn 21, according to the bill. Its sponsor says it's designed to prevent binge drinking in college, but opponents say the mid-1980s move by the federal government to force states to raise their drinking age to 21 or else lose federal highway funding has saved lives by reducing drunken driving.
