New GOP State Senator-Elect Cool To Trump Immigration Policies

Dean Tran, a Republican city councilor in Fitchburg elected to the Massachusetts Senate on Tuesday, called the Trump Administration's immigration policies a "little harsh" and said there should be a path to citizenship for illegal aliens "in certain circumstances." Tran, who escaped Vietnam with his family when he was 2, opposed the opening of a Planned Parenthood facility in Fitchburg as a city councilor several years ago and drew the endorsement of pro-lifers in the Senate race.

There's a chill in our drafty house as I write this, sitting next to our fireplace. No logs are burning because that would be a mess, with chocolate melting over the shoes and the hearth.

It is early morning, December 6, the feast day of St. Nicholas, the original and genuine St. Nick. The children left a shoe in front of the fireplace the night before, and will find it filled with candy this morning.
