New England sees first serious snowfall of the season

BOSTON (AP) — A winter storm packing heavy, wet snow gave New England its first real taste of winter Friday, knocking out power to more than 150,000 customers and threatening to cover some spots a foot deep.
Stoic New Englanders going about their business didn't have to like it, but after some parts of the region got more than nine feet of snow last winter, they could deal with it.
