Medical Marijuana Now The Top Crop In Maine

The biggest crop in Maine is no longer what it once was.

Now, the answer is marijuana. From January to October 2020, medical marijuana sales totaled $221.8 million in the state. That made it far and away the largest amount in sales in a specific crop from Maine. For comparison, sales for potatoes from Maine totaled $184.1 million, for milk it was $123.6 million, and blueberries sales were $26 million in 2019, as MassLive points out.

The Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court has ruled that Governor Charlie Baker's sweeping coronavirus restrictions do not violate state statutes or the state constitution.

The court ruled unanimously on Thursday, December 10 that "reducing the dangers" of coronavirus "is a significant government interest" and that the governor's executive orders "are content neutral and narrowly tailored, and they leave open alternative channels of communication."
