Massachusetts Suicides Increased Last Year

Suicides ticked upward in Massachusetts last year; 626 people died by suicide in the Bay State in 2022, according to preliminary data from the federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

It marked a 3.6 percent increase over the previous year. However, the upward tick came after a period of decline. Suicides peaked at 740 in Massachusetts in 2018.

Another New Hampshire Republican primary poll has been released — and former President Donald Trump holds a commanding lead.

The former president has 49 percent support among Republicans in a poll released by Emerson College this week. It gives him a 40-point lead over the runner-up:  former New Jersey governor Chris Christie (9 percent). Florida Governor Ron DeSantis (8 percent) is in third place, according to the poll.
