Massachusetts Senate President Not Ready To Ditch MCAS As Graduation Requirement

Massachusetts should have a standardized test graduation requirement, according to Massachusetts Senate President Karen Spilka (D-Ashland).

While Spilka said the graduation requirement doesn't have to be passing the MCAS, as the Massachusetts Comprehensive Assessment System is known, she doesn't want to see it repealed unless the state can replace it with something better.

Massachusetts Governor Maura Healey and Boston Mayor Michelle Wu plan to speak at an international conference on climate change in May.

"Pope Francis will preside over the summit," which is "organized by the Pontifical Academy of Sciences and the Pontifical Academy of Social Sciences," according to a press release issued Monday, April 22 from the University of Massachusetts at Boston.
