Massachusetts Cops Confiscated Guns Six Times in 2018 Under New ‘Red Flag’ Law
Police in Massachusetts six times took guns away from six people on the grounds that they posed a risk to themselves or others, according to the Gloucester Daily Times, citing Massachusetts Trial Court data.
A bill establishing a so-called "extreme risk protection order" was signed into law by Governor Charlie Baker in July 2018. It allows police, friends, or relatives of gun owners to ask a judge to enable police to confiscate the guns of people on that basis.
