The bill seeks to establish a fifteen-member legislative commission "to study the potential for legislative action to increase racial diversity among the judiciary in the Commonwealth."

A federal judge in Portland, Maine sentenced a Hooksett, New Hampshire man to 12 years in prison for conspiracy to commit Hobbs Act robbery and interference with commerce by violence this week.

Derek DaPrato, 35, also got three years of supervised release for his role in an August 2019 home invasion in York, Maine to steal marijuana and marijuana sale profits from the home's resident. The four. DaPrato pleaded guilty to the charge in December 2022, according to the office of the U.S. Attorney for the District of Maine.
