Martha’s Vineyard Won’t Run Out Of Weed After All

The state commission that regulates legal sales of marijuana has decided to allow the drug to be shipped to Martha's Vineyard, reversing a previous ruling and easing worries about a weedless summer on the island.

Supplies are running out because marijuana-growing businesses on the island have shut down and the state agency hasn't allowed marijuana to be sent by ship from the mainland for fear of running afoul of the federal government, since marijuana is illegal under federal law and the federal government has jurisdiction over U.S. territorial waters.
