Marine helicopters collide off Oahu, 12 crewmembers missing

HALEIWA, Hawaii (AP) — Two Marine Corps helicopters carrying six crew members each collided and went down off the Hawaiian island of Oahu while on a nighttime training mission, and rescuers searched choppy waters Friday where debris had been sighted, military officials said.

There was no immediate word on the fate of those aboard or what caused the accident.

PARIS (AP) — One man is brain dead and three others are facing possible permanent brain damage after volunteering to take part in a drug test that went awry, French authorities said Friday. All six were previously healthy.

The Paris prosecutor's office has opened an investigation into what French Health Minister Marisol Touraine called "an accident of exceptional gravity" at the private Biotrial clinical lab in the western city of Rennes.
