Marijuana’s Legal in Massachusetts, But Not If You Grow It Without Permission – Four Homes Raided, Charges

Police raided four homes in eastern Massachusetts where they say marijuana plants were being illegally grown for a drug trafficking enterprise.

Three people are expected to face charges in connection with the raids, which took place at one home in Braintree, two homes in Quincy, and one home in Westford, according to the Lowell Sun.

About 50 people protested Wednesday against Bristol County Sheriff Tom Hodgson's policy of having sheriff's office personnel run the names of new inmates in the database of the federal Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency, according to the New Bedford Standard Times.

The idea is to see if new prisoners are illegal immigrants, and to let ICE agents know in case they want to pick them up for possible deportation.
