Maine Town Official Invited To NRA Convention Because of Second Amendment Sanctuary Resolution

A northern Maine local official has been invited to address the convention of the National Rifle Association this summer because the town council he serves on declared the town a Second Amendment sanctuary.

Bob Kilcollins, who owns a gun shop in town, earlier this year presented the resolution to the town council of Fort Fairfield, a town of about 3,200 people on the New Brunswick border, east of Caribou.

While once parents of schoolchildren needed to be informed before books dealing with homosexual and transgender themes were introduced into a classroom, that's no longer the case, a homosexuality advocate said.

Eileen Dugas, a former early education teacher and current coordinator of South Coast LGBTQ Network, recently described what she considers progress to The Standard-Times of New Bedford, stemming from mainstreaming "the LGBTQ community into culture and religion" during the past three decades.
