Maine Single-Use Plastic Ban Going Into Effect Next Month

So-called single-use plastic bags will no longer be allowed in Maine starting next month.

The state's legislature passed the measure in 2019 and Democratic governor Janet Mills approved it that year, as The Associated Press reports. It was originally set to go into effect in April 2020. However, due to the coronavirus pandemic, the state pushed back the launch date. The reason was concern that reusable bags would worsen the spread of coronavirus.
