A school board member in northern Maine has resigned because of what she considers the local public school system's immorality.
"In my opinion, the system has turned away from God and traditional values in ways that will negatively affect our youth in years to come. I will pray for positive change," wrote Michelle Henderson, a member of the board of Regional School Unit 29, in a resignation letter, according to The Bangor Daily News.
The president of the Massachusetts Senate is attending an "executive leadership program" in Athens, Greece this week, her office told State House News Service.
The trip of state Senator Karen Spilka (D-Ashland), who leads the state Senate, wasn't announced before she went.
