Maine Governor Calls Proposed Time Zone Change ‘Insane’

The state Legislature in Maine has given preliminary approval to a bill that would make the Atlantic time zone (which includes the Maritime provinces of Canada) the time zone of Maine, if Massachusetts and New Hampshire agree to it. Maine Governor Paul LePage, a Republican, says he'll veto the bill.

Concerns about child obesity led some members of the school board of Manchester, New Hampshire to propose limiting the number of bake sales that schools there can have. The school board didn't approve the measure, but the board has already approved a measure requiring a permission slip from parents for their children to participate in a bake sale during school hours.
