Lieutenant Governor in Rhode Island Scrapes By Left-Wing Bernie Bro

Rhode Island Lieutenant Governor Daniel J. McKee narrowly defeated left-wing challenger J. Aaron Regunberg in the Democratic primary Wednesday, 51.1 to 48.9 percent.

McKee, 67, a former mayor of Cumberland, is a conventional Democratic politician.

Rhode Island Governor Gina Raimondo beat back a serious challenge from former secretary of state Matt Brown in the Democratic primary on Wednesday.

Brown, who had been endorsed by a group affiliated with U.S. Senator Bernie Sanders of Vermont, was pushing single-payer government health care, among other positions.
