Lawmakers Want To Increase Felony Theft Threshold Four To Six Times What It Is Now

The current threshold for felony theft in Massachusetts is $250, but the Massachusetts Senate wants to increase it to $1,500, while the House wants to increase it to $1,000. Any theft below the threshold is a misdemeanor, which often doesn't come with jail time.
