Law Unclear in Massachusetts On Whether Schools On Hook for Sexual Misconduct By Employees

Statutes and case law in Massachusetts make it unclear whether a school is civilly liable for an employee who engages in sexual misconduct, a former state Supreme Judicial Court justice said.

John Greaney, who recently retired from the court, predicted that the state's highest court would accept a case that would give the court a chance to clarify if schools are on the hook in Massachusetts for such behavior, according to MassLive.com.

The Rhode Island Senate's Judiciary Committee appears to be divided 5-4 in favor of a bill that would effectively make abortion legal throughout pregnancy, although anti-abortion leaders in the Senate could join the committee vote and tilt it the other way, according to The Providence Journal.

The Rhode Island House of Representatives passed the bill Thursday, March 7.
