Judge: Great Dane-Lover Can Keep One, But Must Give Up Other 83

A woman who kept 84 Great Danes in the basement, garage, and first floor of her mansion in Wolfeboro, New Hampshire must give up 83 of them and pay about $800,000 to the local Humane Society to reimburse it for the dogs' care to date, a judge ruled. The woman took good care of the dogs until she suffered a knee injury and had trouble replacing workers, then they lived in filth, the judge says; the woman disputes the judge's finding and plans to appeal.
