Judge approves $50M settlement to Northeast dairy farmers

MONTPELIER, Vt. (AP) — A federal judge on Tuesday approved a $50 million settlement to be paid by a national dairy marketing cooperative to thousands of Northeast dairy farmers.

Dairy Farmers of America will pay an average of $4,000 to about 8,860 farms to settle a lawsuit that accused the marketing group of trying to drive down milk prices.

State Dept. expects Syrian refugees to U.S. to ‘increase exponentially’

(CNSNews.com) – The State Department is committed to meeting President Obama's goal of admitting 10,000 Syrian refugees into the United States this fiscal year, and expects the numbers to "increase exponentially" over the summer, a spokesman said Tuesday.

With four months left in FY2016, the administration has admitted 3,566 Syrian refugees as of Tuesday – or 35.6 percent of the 10,000 target number.
