Jon Santiago Drops Out Of Race For Mayor of Boston

State Representative Jon Santiago (D-South End) dropped out of the Boston mayoral race on Tuesday morning via Twitter

The Santiago campaign lagged far behind in the polling. In a late June poll put out by The Boston Globe, Santiago was in fifth place with 5 percent support. Meanwhile, the frontrunners in the race were Boston city councilor Michelle Wu (23 percent) and acting mayor Kim Janey (22 percent).

Rhode Island Bans Most Guns On School Grounds

Most guns are no longer allowed on school property in Rhode Island.

The state's Democratic governor, Dan McKee, signed the Harold M. Metts School Safety Act of 2021 into law on Monday, July 12. It prevents people from bringing guns onto school property. The law includes exceptions for school security personnel, peace officers, and retired law enforcement officers.
