Jindal’s latest book released as his 2016 campaign struggles

BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) — Republican presidential contender Bobby Jindal offers history from a conservative viewpoint in a new book illustrating the "folly of looking to the government for the solution to all of our problems."

Tracing an arc from the Bill of Rights to President Barack Obama's health care law, the Louisiana governor came out Tuesday with "American Will," a book meant to advance his struggling campaign. Matt Latimer and Keith Urbahn are co-authors with the governor.

Syrian President Assad travels to Moscow to meet Putin

DAMASCUS, Syria (AP) — President Bashar Assad has traveled to Moscow in his first known trip abroad since war broke out in Syria in 2011, meeting his strongest ally Russian leader Vladimir Putin. The two leaders stressed that the military operations in Syria— in which Moscow is the latest and most powerful addition— must lead to a political process.

The visit Tuesday reflects renewed confidence from the embattled Syrian president after Russia and Iran, another staunch ally, dramatically escalated their support recently as Moscow began carrying out airstrikes on Syrian insurgents and Tehran sent hundreds of ground forces.
