The Fourth Essex District had a new state representative sworn in this week.
Jamie Belsito of Topsfield, who won a November 30 special election 55 percent to 45 percent over Rowley selectman Bob Snow, had her ceremony on Wednesday, December 8, according to the Salem News. With the win, Democrats have 130 of the 160 seats in the Massachusetts House of Representatives; there are just 29 Republicans out of the 160 state representatives.
Massachusetts is going to needlessly burn through a lot of money soon.
Back in February, President Joe Biden signed the $1.9 trillion American Rescue Plan into law. Part of that stimulus package gave money to states, including states like Massachusetts that have a surplus of money.
