Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum Now Offering $10 Million for Stolen Paintings

The missing classic paintings, which include works by Rembrandt and Vermeer, were stolen from the Boston museum in 1990 by two men who posed as cops. The museum for years has offered $5 million for the return of the missing artwork — on a no-questions-asked basis — but the board has decided to double the reward.

Maine Supreme Court Tosses Ranked-Preference Voting

The Maine Supreme Court unanimously ruled that ranked-preference statewide elections violate the state's constitution. The measure, which Maine voters approved in a 2016 ballot question, is favored by political activists who support fringe candidates who can't get enough first-choice votes to be elected but might be able to cobble together enough support to win if second-choice or third-choice preferences were taken into account.
