In wake of outbreak, Chipotle aims as close to perfect food safety as possible

SEATTLE (AP) — Perfect food safety is not possible, but Chipotle is trying to get as close to that ideal as they can with new procedures and testing inside and outside their restaurants, the company's founder and CEO said Tuesday during a visit to Seattle.

"It is impossible to ensure that there is a zero percent chance of any kind of foodborne illness anytime anyone eats anywhere," CEO Steve Ells told The Associated Press at the beginning of a day stopping by Seattle restaurants to talk to employees about new food safety rules.

BOSTON – Spectators swarmed over Copley Square huddled under umbrellas to watch fireworks exploding in blue, purple and pink along with flickering candles against a royal blue-and-gold façade of the historic Boston Public Library Thursday as a city-sponsored holiday light celebration stopped commuters in their tracks.

"I tell you folks, I was so impressed," said Massachusetts House Speaker Robert DeLeo, a Winthrop Democrat who filled in as master of ceremonies for Boston Mayor Marty Walsh. The mayor was delayed at an earlier event, officials said.
