Jennifer Ladd, 40, a high school history teacher in Darien, Connecticut, says she plans to walk out of school on April 20, which anti-gun activists have declared a day of action against gun violence.
Unless Congress bans so-called assault weapons, implements universal background checks, and takes other measures to protect schools, she says, she's walking.
"One legislator told me point-blank, 'If you ever need a place to stay, you're more than welcome to sit on my lap'," said former Democratic Maine state Representative Diane Russell, who is running for governor, according to the Associated Press.
