Going to the Beach? Smile. You Might Be On Camera

Portions of the Massachusetts coastline are under surveillance from security cameras, including Salisbury and Newburyport in the northeastern part of the state.

Harbormasters and other officials say the cameras are about safety – if an inner tube is found floating on the water, for instance, officials can rewind the camera footage and determine if someone was on it or if it just blew off the beach, according to the Newburyport Daily News.

The city of Brockton took by eminent domain the tallest building in its downtown and then turned it over to a developer who plans to turn it into housing.

The recent owner of the 1905 Brockton Furniture Building, John Monem, operates a furniture business on the first floor, but city officials told him Thursday, December 6 he has four months to get out.
