Former Red Sox Manager Bobby Valentine Loses Tight Mayoral Race

Former Boston Red Sox manager Bobby Valentine won't be the next mayor of Stamford, Connecticut.

The independent lost a tight mayoral race to a Democratic incumbent. Valentine got 14,060 votes (47.5 percent). Meanwhile, the Democrat in the race, Caroline Simmons, got 15,565 votes (52.5 percent), according to The Stamford Advocate. It was an open seat race, meaning that neither candidate was an incumbent. Simmons is a member of the Connecticut House of Representatives.
