Florida School Where Mass Shooting Took Place Is Named for Taunton Woman
Marjory Stoneman Douglas (1890-1998) was a writer and environmentalist who championed the Everglades after moving to in south Florida in 1915. She moved to Taunton when she was 6 and went to Taunton High School.
The high school in Parkland, Florida named for her, scene of the mass shooting this past Wednesday that killed 17, opened in 1990.
