A ballot question asking voters to legalize rent control won't be going to the general election ballot in Massachusetts in November 2024.
Supporters have given up their effort to get signatures of registered voters for the proposed referendum. Supporters collected 10,175 signatures of the 74,574 needed by Wednesday, November 22, one of the leaders of the campaign, state Representative Michael Connolly (D-Cambridge) wrote in a blog post Friday, November 10. That's about 14 percent of the total.
