QUITO, Ecuador (RNS) – Emergency teams from U.S. faith-based humanitarian relief agencies are on the ground in northwest Ecuador to help survivors of a 7.8 magnitude earthquake that shattered buildings and took the lives of at least 413 people.
The Saturday quake destroyed more than 300 buildings, buckled overpasses and trapped residents, workers and motorists.
TORONTO (Reuters) – Canada's Liberal government will introduce legislation to decriminalize and regulate recreational marijuana in spring 2017, Health Minister Jane Philpott said on Wednesday.
Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau promised during last year's election campaign that his Liberals would legalize recreational marijuana, following the U.S. states of Washington and Colorado, but the time frame has been unclear.
