Enrollment Declining At Massachusetts Colleges

College enrollment has taken a big hit in Massachusetts over the past few years.

In the spring 2019 semester, there were about 426,100 undergraduate students enrolled in colleges across the Commonwealth. However, there has been an 11 percent decrease in the number of undergraduate students enrolled at colleges in the state, as Axios reports— about 379,300 were enrolled in Massachusetts colleges in the spring 2022 semester.

If you fill out a form to enroll your child in a new school in Massachusetts, you might not see a spot to put the contact information for the mother or father.

That's because many of the public school districts across the Commonwealth have abandoned the terms "mother" and "father" on these forms.
