U.S. Senator Elizabeth Warren listed herself as an "American Indian" in her own handwriting on a Texas Board of Bar Registration card in 1986 – about a year before she joined the faculty of the University of Pennsylvania Law School.

It's the earliest public document that has surfaced showing Warren claiming American Indian ancestry.
