As of this week our country is now a little poorer because the United States Senate has less of a filibuster than it once did.

NEW BEDFORD — Hoisting signs and posters depicting everything from Massachusetts's most prominent Democrats lounging in a soggy salt marsh to Democratic U.S. Senator Elizabeth Warren sporting a Native American headdress, a small but vocal group met up Friday at the foot of the New Bedford Free Public Library — a venue where they knew their voices would be heard.
That's because a slate of the state's leading GOP lawmakers, along with Bristol County Sheriff Thomas Hodgson, were due to speak at Friday's rally, sponsored by local talk radio station AM 1420 WBSM.
