Electricity Market in New England Nearing ‘Crisis Point,’ Advocate Says

New England Power Generators Association president Dan Dolan issued a warning about the future of New England wholesale electricity-generation markets one day after the Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court rejected his organization's petition to operate under less restrictive emissions standards, as allowed by the commonwealth's 2008 Global Warming Solutions Act.

The administration of Massachusetts Governor Charlie Baker regulates electric companies the same way as other companies that produce power, according to the Boston Business Journal.

An Adams man who pleaded guilty to terrorism charges in May was sentenced to 20 years in prison earlier this week in U.S. District Court in Springfield. 

Alexander Ciccolo agreed to a plea deal, according to MassLive.com. Had the deal not been reached, Ciccolo faced life imprisonment.
