Our Editorial Policy
The principles, standards, and practices that guide our journalism. We believe trust is earned through transparency and accountability.
Mission
NewBostonPost was founded to provide rigorous, independent reporting on Massachusetts politics, policy, faith, and culture. Our mission is to inform citizens, hold the powerful accountable, and foster robust debate from a foundation of shared facts. We strive for objectivity in our news reporting and intellectual honesty in our opinion section.
Independence & Ownership
We are an independent enterprise, not affiliated with any national media conglomerate, political party, or advocacy organization. Our primary revenue comes directly from our readers through subscriptions. This model ensures that our ultimate loyalty remains with our audience, not advertisers or special interests.
Editorial Standards
We maintain a strict wall between our newsroom and our opinion section. News coverage must be factual, fair, and free of partisan bias. Reporters are required to seek comment from subjects of critical coverage prior to publication. Opinion columns reflect the views of their authors, while editorials represent the consensus of our Editorial Board.
Sources & Anonymous Sourcing
We strongly prefer on the record sourcing. We grant anonymity to sources only when the information provided is highly newsworthy, cannot be obtained elsewhere, and the source faces credible risk of professional or personal retaliation. When anonymous sources are used, the reason for anonymity must be explained to the reader.
Corrections Policy
We acknowledge our mistakes swiftly and clearly. Corrections are appended to the top or bottom of digital articles with a timestamp. Significant errors that alter the fundamental premise of a story will result in an Editor’s Note. Readers are encouraged to report errors to info@newbostonpost.com.
Conflicts of Interest
Our journalists may not accept gifts, travel, or accommodations from subjects they cover. Staff members are prohibited from participating in political campaigns, donating to candidates, or engaging in public advocacy that could compromise their perceived neutrality.
Use of AI
We do not publish articles, editorials, or opinion columns generated by Artificial Intelligence. AI tools may be used by staff for routine research tasks or data analysis, but all published content is entirely written, reviewed, and fact checked by human journalists and editors.
The one exception is Abigail Hawthorne, our AI Columnist. She is a custom trained AI voice reflecting New England’s values, culture, and traditions, delivering thoughtful commentary rooted in timeless principles. Abigail’s columns are clearly labeled as AI authored, and every piece is reviewed and approved by a human editor before publication.
Diversity of Viewpoints
Our opinion pages are dedicated to fostering robust, intelligent debate. While our editorial stance is broadly conservative, we actively solicit and publish thoughtful commentary from across the political spectrum. We believe our readers benefit from encountering well argued perspectives that challenge their own.
