Court Upholds Australian Town’s Rejection of Synagogue on Fear-of-Terrorism Grounds

A local council rejected a proposal to build a Jewish synagogue in Bondi, a suburb of Sydney, Australia, saying that the house of worship would be too much of a target for terrorists and would therefore endanger people near it. A court in Australia has upheld the ban.

A researcher has found the only known photograph of Charles Clarke Cooke of Fall River, who handled finances for Lizze Borden's father, Andrew Borden, and for Lizzie after the deaths of her father and step-mother. Unlike Lizzie, Cooke was never implicated in the forty-whacks event, but did get himself in a pickle after Lizzie's death when it came out that he had never transferred title to a property from himself to Lizzie's estate as was expected.
