Connecticut Hospitals Pay More in State Tax Than They Make in Profit

The 28 hospitals in Connecticut made a collective total surplus in fiscal year 2016 of $353 million, but a state tax on health care totaled $438 million. The state's Democratic governor, Dannel Malloy, thinks the hospitals should pay more.
