A century of uncommon good will between the citizens of Boston and Halifax will be commemorated on the Boston Common on Thursday with the annual lighting of the city's Christmas tree.

The man surreptitiously used his cell phone to videotape a police raid on his home two years ago in Manchester, New Hampshire, and police arrested him for it. After his arrest he lost his job; but a federal court had previously ruled that people have a First Amendment right to videotape police activities; the city settled the man's lawsuit for $275,000.
