Charlie Baker’s Approval Rating Takes A Hit

Most people in Massachusetts approve of the state's Republican governor Charlie Baker, but his approval rating is on the decline.

A poll released by UMass Amherst this week showed that Baker's approval rating has dropped substantially over the past several months. It showed Baker with a 52 percent approval rating and a 39 percent disapproval rating. That represents a major decline from his position in August 2020 when 78 percent approved and 20 percent disapproved.

About one year ago the Commonwealth of Massachusetts shut down sectors of the economy in response to the coronavirus pandemic.

While the virus has taken the lives of more than half a million Americans and hospitalized many more, people remain hesitant to donate blood out of fear of the virus, Kim Cronin, manager of Massachusetts General Hospital Blood Donor Services, told NewBostonPost by telephone on Monday afternoon.
