Carol Doherty’s Death Leaves An Open Seat — And A GOP Opportunity

Sad news came this weekend when it was revealed that state Representative Carol Doherty (D-Taunton) died of pancreatic cancer at 82 years old.

Doherty, who represented the Third Bristol District, which includes parts of Taunton and Easton in Bristol County, since July 2020, was a well-liked and well-respected member of the Massachusetts legislature. She was also always friendly and helpful when I interacted with her for NewBostonPost, as a mutual friend introduced us when she was running for state representative five years ago.
