Common questions from applicants

Do you offer remote roles?
Some roles can be performed remotely, particularly writing and editing positions. Others, especially those involving in-person events or on-the-ground reporting in Massachusetts, are better suited to candidates in or near Greater Boston.
Do I need prior journalism experience?
For staff roles, prior reporting or editing experience is strongly preferred. For internships and some contributor roles, we are open to strong writers who can demonstrate reporting instincts, clarity of thought, and alignment with our mission.
Do you work with freelance contributors?
