The Brockton state representative who found herself at the heart of a firestorm of criticism after she circulated a rumor on social media alleging that federal immigration had planned a series of citywide raids has doubled-down on her decision, telling reporters she still believes she did the right thing.
"Passing information along that is already all over the community not only lets the people I represent know what is happening, it lets ICE know that everyone in Brockton is aware of their intended raid," Michelle DuBois, a Democrat, said, reading from a prepared statement.
Michelle DuBois, a Democrat whose Massachusetts House of Representatives district includes Brockton, warned illegal immigrants about a rumored raid in Brockton by the federal Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency. She got deluged with negative comments.
