A person familiar with the decision told The Associated Press on Monday that the U.S. Olympic Committee has severed ties with Boston. The person spoke on condition of anonymity because the decision had not yet been made public.
On July 6, the MBTA eliminated the honor box payment system and space numbers for all their parking lots. PayByPhone is a technology that allows customers to pay using any smart phone or internet-connected device.
PayByPhone is already in use by 75-percent of parking customers in "honor box lots" throughout the system. If customers choose not to sign up for PayByPhone, the MBTA will mail a monthly invoice to the address listed on the vehicle owner's registration.
