A Massachusetts man allegedly misled his girlfriend into having a chemical abortion, according to WCVB.
Robert Kawada, 43, of Brookline, was charged late last week with "poisoning, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon on a pregnant person and assault and battery on a household or family member," the report said.
The victim became pregnant while the two were dating.
However, Kawada allegedly gave the victim misoprostol and possibly other drugs but claimed they were iron pills and vitamins. It's unclear if the perpetrator also used mifepristone, another drug used to induce a chemical abortion.
The woman had a miscarriage, according to police.
Watertown police arrested Kawada last Friday. He was expected to be arraigned in Waltham District Court on Tuesday, May 28.
