(CNSNews.com) — For February, the national unemployment rate was 4.9 percent, but for whites alone it was 4.3 percent and for Blacks it was 8.8 percent, more than double the rate of whites, according to the latest data available from the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS). Asians had the lowest unemployment rate at 3.8 percent, and Hispanics' unemployment rate in February was 5.4 percent.
Whites make up 77.4 percent of the population, according to the U.S. Census Bureau. Blacks comprise 13.2 percent of the population, Hispanics 17.4 percent, and Asians 5.4 percent.
