Massachusetts Secretary of State Bill Galvin beat Boston city councilor Josh Zakim handily in the Democratic primary.
Galvin, who has served as Secretary of State since 1995, withstood a stiff challenge from Zakim, who tried to marshal the left-turning Democratic electorate against the long-term incumbent.
Massachusetts state Representative Colleen Garry (D-Dracut) beat back a primary challenge from left-wing Dracut School Committee member Sabrina Heisey.
Garry is pro-life and voted against the so-called Bathroom Bill. She was criticized by Heisey from the left, particularly on social issues.
