William Galvin, the Massachusetts Secretary of State, is serving as acting governor of the commonwealth from Friday morning, February 9 through Sunday, February 11, a spokesman for Galvin said.
"The Governor is on a personal trip until Sunday. The LG is attending to a family matter," said Karissa Hand, a spokesman for Governor Maura Healey, around 10:20 a.m. Friday, according to State House News Service.
U.S. Representative Katherine Clark (D-Revere) says she thinks abortion is the biggest political issue in 2024, and she slammed Republican lawmakers who want to restrict it.
"Wherever we travel across the country, whoever we talk to, abortion is top of mind for our constituents and for voters. Millions of people are suffering under the brutality of MAGA abortion bans," Clark said in a press release from her office. "And those in states that still have protected abortion access are scared of the GOP's march to a national abortion ban."
